Job Description

U.S. News empowers everyone to thrive. We are seeking a sharp consumer banking analyst and reporter to empower consumers with the knowledge needed to make the best banking-related decisions.

The Consumer Baking Analyst and Reporter is responsible for writing insightful, actionable articles about banking, such as how to find the best savings account, the difference between APY and interest rate, how to switch banks, and ways to protect yourself from banking scams. You will also review banking articles and guides to ensure accuracy and demonstrate expertise to readers.

With the new presidential administration, there will likely be changes across the banking industry. You will translate and interpret policy decisions and explain what those decisions mean for consumers.

In addition, the consumer banking analyst and reporter will work with our PR team to make television, radio and web appearances to promote and be the face of our banking guides and advice content. There could be opportunities for video and podcasting as well.

Strong writing and communication skills are required, and a banking and personal finance background is a must.

Responsibilities

Writing insightful, actionable articles about banking; reviewing banking articles and guides; translating and interpreting policy decisions; working with PR team for media appearances.

Qualifications

Five to eight years of journalism experience in the banking space; strong knowledge of the banking industry; strong writing skills; previous experience with live media appearances; strong relationships with reporters in personal finance; solid understanding of SEO; established presence on social media; ability to multitask and work on tight deadlines; willingness to travel; excellent communication skills; journalism or related degree or equivalent experience.
